An elderly man died after a fire broke out at a retirement village in Kilmore, while his wife and neighbours managed to escape their burning units on Wednesday morning.
Residents of Kingsgate Village, north of Melbourne, were forced to flee their homes when two units caught on fire shortly after 6am.
